So, the summer holidays are over and the kids have gone back to school. The first few weeks back can be hard after summer so why not treat the whole family to an exciting day out at the weekend. It’s always nice to have something to look forward at the end of a long week and there are plenty of activities that all the family can enjoy. We have some great ideas below on places to go in and around Cheshunt which are perfect for families.

Try a New Experience

This place is a bit further afield in Shepherds Bush but it is well worth the trip. Kidzania is an indoor town where kids rule the roost. It gives children a real-world experience where they can develop life skills and strengthen their confidence.

Children can explore the town and find over 60 real world activities along the way. Activities include bank, estate agents, firefighter, dentist, fashion studio, supermarket, and police officer to name but a few. At the beginning of the day children are given 50 kidzos which they can spend on food and activities. They then have four hours to explore and have fun.

Go to the Movies

Who doesn’t love a trip to the cinema to see the latest new film? Head ten minutes down the road to Enfield to see your film of choice at Cineworld! You can buy a family ticket for £32 (for up to four people), then grab some snacks and you are ready to go.

Films currently showing include Despicable Me 3 (hooray minions!), The Emoji Movie and The Nut Job 2. Some upcoming releases are The Jungle Bunch (14th September), The Lego Ninjago Movie (12th October), My Little Pony: The Movie (19th October) and Paddington 2 (10th November).

Go on an Adventure

Ryeassic Adventure Park in Hoddesdon provides an action-packed time for the family. This dinosaur themed park contains indoor and outdoor play areas where the kids can explore the dino maze, bounce on the trampolines, play crazy golf, and race up the climbing walls. The park also has a restaurant and picnic areas. Why not pick up some lunch from Mega Charcoal Grill and tuck in when you arrive!

Get Creative

Unleash your creative side at Go Pottery in Enfield. Here adults and kids can have a go at painting a variety of ceramics such as teapots, mugs, plates, and piggy banks. This is an ideal place to go on a rainy day to spend some quality time together as a family. What’s more is that you can all take home your creations from the day and keep them as mementos of a great day out.

Meet the Animals

When the sun is shining head down to Foxholes Farm in Hertford where you and the kids can spend the day meeting a range of animals. There are chickens, guinea pigs, lambs, goats, donkeys, calves, and alpacas which can be petted and fed. Tickets are £2.50 each making this a low-cost day out for the family. There is also a lake to stroll down to and a tea room for when hunger strikes.

Make Your Own Fun

Windy and wet outside? No problem as you can have a fun-filled day inside. How about getting some classic board games such as Monopoly, Cluedo, Scrabble, Jenga, and Twister and let the battle commence. Then retire to the lounge in the evening and choose the perfect family film to enjoy with cosy blankets and hot drinks. Getting hungry…treat the family to one of our meal deals which contain starters, succulent kebabs, and a range of sides – ideal for sharing.
